Verified on release 3.0.74.2 "Accounting for Kazakhstan" (edition 3.0).
You create a payment order to a supplier, click "Post," and 1C highlights the "Bank" field in red and states that the BIC is not filled in. Or worse — the payment went out, and a day later it came back marked "incorrect BIC of the recipient's bank." The money is stuck, the supplier is calling, and you realize: the problem is not with the counterparty or the amount, but with a single entry in the "Banks" directory that someone entered manually with an error in the code. This directory is the foundation beneath every non-cash payment. Let's figure out how to keep it in order.
1. Purpose
The "Banks" directory stores bank details — BIC, correspondent account, SWIFT, city, and address. This data is inserted into counterparties' bank accounts and into your own accounts, and from there into payment orders, collection orders, and the exchange with the client-bank. One bank — one entry; it is used by dozens of counterparties.
2. Where to Find It
There is usually no direct "Banks" item in the command interface — the directory is opened from related objects:
- Via the counterparty: section "Directories" → "Counterparties" → open the counterparty → tab/link "Bank accounts" → in the account, the "Bank" field → the selection button "Show all" → a list of banks will open.
- Via your organization: "Main" → "Organizations" → organization card → "Bank accounts" → the "Bank" field.
- Directly via a navigation link. Menu "Tools" (or "File") → "Go to navigation link", paste:
e1cib/list/Справочник.Банки
The full list of banks will open. This is the fastest way to reach the directory without intermediate objects.
2a. How to Find Out Your Release
Menu "Help" → "About the program". The window shows the version of the "1C:Enterprise" platform (for example, 8.3.24.x) and the configuration release — the line "Accounting for Kazakhstan," edition 3.0 (3.0.74.2). Everything in this guide has been verified on 3.0.74.2; on neighboring releases the field layout is identical.
3. How to Fill It In
Open the card: in the list of banks, the "Create" button (Ins). Fields:
| Field | Req. | What it's for and what happens if there's an error |
|---|---|---|
| BIC | Yes | Bank identification code (for banks of the RK — 8 characters, e.g. HSBKKZKX or numeric in older entries). The main detail: the bank uses it to find the recipient. Make a mistake — and the payment will bounce back or go to the wrong place. |
| Correspondent account | No | The bank's corr. account. In the RK, domestic tenge payments go by BIC, so the field is often empty. Fill it in for currency and interbank settlements. |
| Name | Yes | How the bank is named in lists and printed forms of the payment order. Write it recognizably: "Halyk Bank," "Kaspi Bank," "Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan." |
| SWIFT (SWIFT BIC) | Conditionally | The bank's international code. Required for currency payments and payments abroad. Without it you cannot process a foreign transfer. |
| City | No | The bank's city. Goes into the details, helps not to confuse similarly named branches. |
| Address | No | The branch's postal address. For reference; it does not affect payment processing. |
| Phones | No | Branch contact. Purely for reference. |
| Country | Conditionally | For non-resident banks, specify the country — otherwise a currency/foreign payment will be treated as domestic. |
Practice. Do not enter banks manually "by eye." The standard configuration has a loader for the RK bank classifier: in the list form or in the bank selection, look for the command "Select from classifier" / "Load bank classifier." The classifier will insert the BIC and name without typos. Leave manual entry for new or foreign banks that are not in the classifier.
4. Worked Example with Postings
Situation. You, LLP "Astra" (a VAT payer), pay the supplier LLP "Vector" for a batch of goods. The supplier's account: bank Halyk Bank, BIC HSBKKZKX. The invoice amount is 1,160,000 ₸, including VAT of 16%.
- You enter (or select from the classifier) the bank: Name "Halyk Bank," BIC HSBKKZKX, City "Almaty."
- In the card of the counterparty LLP "Vector," you create a bank account: Bank = Halyk Bank, IBAN account number
KZ..., currency ₸. - You create a Payment order for 1,160,000 ₸ and write off the money with the document "Debit from current account."
Let's break down the VAT. Base = 1,160,000 / 1.16 = 1,000,000 ₸, VAT 16% = 160,000 ₸.
Postings upon receipt of goods (for a complete picture of the transaction):
| Operation | Dr | Cr | Amount, ₸ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goods received | 1330 | 3310 | 1,000,000 |
| VAT on acquisition credited | 1420 | 3310 | 160,000 |
Posting upon payment to the supplier (this is where the bank comes into play):
| Operation | Dr | Cr | Amount, ₸ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paid to supplier from current account | 3310 | 1030 | 1,160,000 |
If you had made a mistake in the BIC of "Vector's" bank, the document would have been posted (account 1030 does not verify the validity of the BIC), but the export to the client-bank would have gone out with the wrong code — and the money would have come back within 1–2 days. Hence the rule: first a verified bank, then the payment.
For comparison — a sale to the same customer for 1,160,000 ₸ would have given: Dr 1210 Cr 6010 — 1,000,000; Dr 1210 Cr 3130 — 160,000 (VAT 16%); Dr 7010 Cr 1330 — cost of goods.
5. Types of Operation
The "Banks" directory is not a document, it has no "types of operation." But it participates in various scenarios:
- your organization's bank — the source for "Debit" and "Receipt" to the current account;
- a resident counterparty's bank — tenge payments by BIC;
- a non-resident counterparty's bank — currency payments, where SWIFT and country are required;
- an intermediary bank (correspondent) — for currency transfers through a third bank.
6. What Is Generated Upon Posting
The directory itself posts nothing and makes no movements in registers. It supplies details to the documents that actually generate postings and exchange:
- in the payment order and the file for the client-bank, the BIC and bank name are placed into the recipient's fields;
- upon "Debit from current account," the posting Dr 3310 Cr 1030 is generated (or Dr 3390, 3120, etc., depending on the payment purpose);
- upon "Receipt to current account" — Dr 1030 Cr 1210 (or another);
- bank data does not directly affect the ESF and SNT (those are built from the invoice and the goods), but a correct bank account is needed for reconciling payments.
7. Printed Forms
The "Banks" directory itself has no printed forms. Its details are output in the printed forms of documents:
- Payment order — the BIC and name of the recipient's/payer's bank;
- Payment order slip, collection order;
- Transfer application (currency payment order) — SWIFT is used here;
- bank details in the invoice for payment to the customer.
8. Common Mistakes
"The 'BIC' field is not filled in" — when saving the bank or posting the payment order. Open the bank card and enter the correct BIC from the classifier.
"Incorrect BIC length" — for banks of the RK, the code is 8 characters. Check whether any extra spaces or digits from the old format have crept in.
Payment bounced: "The recipient's bank BIC was not found" — the bank was entered manually with a typo. Delete/mark for deletion the duplicate, select the bank from the classifier again, and re-link the counterparty's bank account.
Duplicated bank — there are two "Halyk Bank" entries in the list with different BICs. Some counterparties refer to the wrong one. Find the correct entry, on the second one click "Mark for deletion," and via "Administration" → "Deletion of marked objects" the system will show who refers to it, so you can re-link the accounts.
A foreign payment is not posting — "SWIFT is not filled in" — for a currency transfer, open the non-resident bank and enter the SWIFT and country.
"The element cannot be marked for deletion: there are references" — the bank is used in bank accounts. First move the accounts to the correct bank, then delete.
9. FAQ
What is the difference between BIC and SWIFT? BIC is the bank's internal code for settlements within the RK (8 characters). SWIFT is the international code for currency and cross-border payments. For a tenge payment within the RK, the BIC is enough; for a transfer abroad you need the SWIFT.
Do I need to fill in the correspondent account for payments within Kazakhstan? As a rule, no. Domestic tenge payments go by BIC, and the corr. account field is often empty. Fill it in for currency and certain interbank settlements.
Where can I get an up-to-date list of banks so as not to type them in manually? Use the bank classifier loader: in the list or in the bank selection, the command "Select from classifier." The BIC and name will be inserted without typos.
Can I delete a bank I no longer use? Only if there are no references to it from bank accounts. Mark it for deletion, then "Administration" → "Deletion of marked objects" — 1C will check the references and will not let you delete a bank that is in use.
Why did the payment go out but bounce back, even though everything in 1C is green? The document "Debit from current account" is posted to account 1030 and does not verify the validity of the BIC. The erroneous code will be discovered by the bank during execution. Always check the bank against the classifier before sending to the client-bank.
How do I correct a counterparty's bank if the wrong one was entered? Open the counterparty's bank account ("Counterparties" → "Bank accounts"), in the "Bank" field select the correct entry, and save. Re-post the previous payment orders if necessary.
Does the "Banks" directory affect VAT and the ESF? No. VAT (a rate of 16% in 2026), postings to 1420/3130, and the issuance of the ESF/SNT are built from the invoice and the item nomenclature. The bank is responsible only for the movement of money and the payment order details.
One bank — but several branches. Should each be entered? In the RK, settlements go by the bank's single BIC, so usually one entry per bank is enough. Specify the branch in the address/city; there is no need to multiply separate entries.
What to do with duplicated entries of one bank? Keep the entry with the correct BIC, and mark the second for deletion. Through the deletion of marked objects, find the referencing bank accounts and move them to the correct entry.
Is SWIFT required for a tenge payment? No. For a domestic payment in tenge, the BIC is sufficient. SWIFT is required only for currency and foreign transfers.
10. Related Documents
- Based on the bank, the following are filled in: the bank accounts of organizations and counterparties, and through them — "Payment order," "Debit from current account," "Receipt to current account," "Collection order," "Transfer application."
- Where it gets into the directory from: loading the RK bank classifier or manually entering a new record.
- What it is reconciled against: the counterparty's bank account from the supplier's invoice, act, or contract — it is precisely a discrepancy in the bank in these documents that most often brings you to the "Banks" directory.
How to find out your release: menu "Help" → "About the program" — there you'll find the platform version and the configuration release.
This guide was prepared for "Accounting for Kazakhstan," edition 3.0, release 3.0.74.2. On other releases the field layout may differ slightly.
