Verified on release 3.4.5.21 "Trade Management for Kazakhstan" (edition 3.4).

You are preparing a customer survey after a deal — for example, to assess the manager's performance and delivery quality. You open the survey template, add questions, and arrange them into sections. Then a colleague opens the SurveyTemplateQuestions list and sees a confusing set of rows with identical names and different "owners". The question arises: what is this catalog, can you edit anything in it by hand, and will the survey break. Let's sort it out step by step.

1. Purpose

SurveyTemplateQuestions is a service catalog that stores the composition of a specific survey template: which questions are included, in what order, in which section, and whether the answer is required. The question text itself and the answer type are stored in a different catalog — "Survey Questions". Here you only have the "binding" of the question to the template and its display settings. This is part of the surveys (questionnaire) subsystem, not an accounting object: it does not generate journal entries, e-invoices (ESF), or waybills (SNT).

2. Where to find it

This catalog is usually not displayed directly in the menu — you work with it through the survey template. The standard path:

  • CRM and Marketing → Surveys (or Questionnaires) → Survey Templates → open a template → tab/table Questions.

You can open the full catalog list (for viewing or cleaning up duplicates) using a navigation link. Copy it, then in 1C: Tools (▾ icon next to the window title) → "Go to navigation link…" and paste:

e1cib/list/Справочник.ВопросыШаблонаАнкеты

The list that opens will show all items from all templates at once — the Owner column indicates which template the row belongs to.

2a. How to find your release

Menu "Help" → "About the program". At the top — the platform version (e.g. 8.3.x), below — the configuration release ("Trade Management for Kazakhstan, edition 3.4, version 3.4.5.21"). Check exactly the configuration version against this guide: the set of survey fields may differ between releases.

3. How to fill it out

It's better to fill in not the catalog itself, but the question table in the survey template — then all service fields will be set automatically. Let's look at the key fields of the item.

Field Req. Why it's needed and what happens if it's wrong
Owner (Survey Template) ✅ Indicates which template the question belongs to. Filled automatically when added from the template. If you create an item manually without an owner — the question will "hang" and won't appear in the survey.
Question (Survey Question) ✅ Link to the wording and answer type. If empty — the row is meaningless, and when filling out the survey an empty item will be shown.
Name ✅ How the question is displayed in the list. Usually matches the wording; make it clear, otherwise you won't be able to distinguish one template from another in the general list.
Parent (Section) ⬜ Groups questions into sections ("About the manager", "About delivery"). Wrong parent — the question will end up in the wrong section of the survey.
Order / Index ⬜ Display sequence. Get the order wrong and the respondent will see questions mixed up. Controlled by "up/down" arrows in the template.
Required ⬜ If enabled, the survey cannot be saved without answering this question. Only set it on truly key questions — otherwise people will abandon the survey.
Show hint / Hint ⬜ Explanatory text under the question. Useful for scales ("1 — poor, 5 — excellent").
This is a section (group) ⬜ Flag indicating that the row is not a question but a section header. Don't confuse it: a section doesn't require an answer.

Workflow:

  1. Open Survey Templates, create or open a template, set its Name and Introduction/Conclusion (greeting and thank-you text).
  2. In the question table, use the "Add" button to select questions from the "Survey Questions" catalog. If there's no suitable one — create a new one right there, specifying the answer type.
  3. Group the questions into sections and set the order.
  4. Mark the required questions.
  5. Save and close the template — the SurveyTemplateQuestions items will be created automatically.

4. Worked example

Task: create the survey "Service Evaluation" after shipment. The company operates in tenge (₸), but the survey has nothing to do with money — it's a satisfaction survey.

We create the template "Service Evaluation 2026" and add questions. Items will appear in the SurveyTemplateQuestions catalog (Owner = "Service Evaluation 2026"):

Order Name Section (Parent) Answer type Required
1 Section "Manager" — Section —
2 Rate the manager's work Manager One from list (1–5) Yes
3 Comment on the manager Manager Text No
4 Section "Delivery" — Section —
5 Was the item delivered on time? Delivery Boolean (Yes/No) Yes
6 Would you recommend us? Delivery One from list (1–10) Yes

What's important here: rows 1 and 4 are sections (flag "This is a section"), they have no answer type. Rows 2, 5, 6 are marked required — the survey cannot be saved without answers to them. The answer type is taken from the linked "Survey Question", not set in this catalog.

No journal entries. This is the key point: a survey is a CRM tool, not a primary document. When the template is saved, nothing moves in accounting: not 1210, not 6010, not 3130. No VAT (16% in Kazakhstan in 2026), no revenue from sales arises here. If you expect the survey to affect accounting — you've confused the object: "Sales of Goods and Services" is responsible for sales, and banking/cash documents are responsible for money.

5. Types of "transactions" (question types)

The catalog has no transaction types in the accounting sense. But through the linked question, it supports all answer types of the survey subsystem:

  • String — short text (full name, city).
  • Number — quantity, numeric rating.
  • Date — date of an event.
  • Boolean — Yes/No.
  • Text — detailed comment.
  • One option from a list — radio button (scale 1–5, 1–10).
  • Multiple options from a list — multiple choice ("what did you like").

Plus a row can be a section (group) — a header without an answer.

6. What is generated upon saving

  • Journal entries: none. The catalog is not posted and does not create accounting movements.
  • Electronic documents (ESF / SNT): not generated — a survey is not a tax/accompanying document.
  • Register movements: creation of the catalog item and its link to the owner template. Respondents' answers are not written here, but to the "Survey" document (Questionnaire) and related information registers with answers. That is, the template and its questions are the "form", and the answers themselves are separate documents.

7. Printed forms

The catalog itself has no printed form. Printing relates to the template/survey:

  • Survey (blank form for filling out) — printed form of the template: sections, questions, answer fields. Convenient for a paper survey.
  • Completed survey — printing from the "Survey" document with the answers of a specific respondent.

Output via the "Print" button from the template form or the survey document.

8. Common errors

  • "Field 'Question' is not filled in" — you created a row manually and did not select a question from "Survey Questions". Open the item and specify the question, or delete the empty row. It's best not to create items directly, but to add them from the template.
  • "Required questions are not filled in" — this occurs when filling out the survey, not the template. Answer the starred items, or uncheck Required for the relevant row in the template if the requirement is excessive.
  • Question doesn't appear in the survey — the item has the wrong Owner or is outside the needed section. Check the "Owner" column in the list e1cib/list/Справочник.ВопросыШаблонаАнкеты and the parent.
  • Duplicate questions — the same question was added to the template twice. Delete the extra row in the template; in the catalog's general list, duplicates differ only by order.
  • "Item is in use…" when deleting — there are already completed surveys based on this template. Don't delete the question; instead mark the template/question as inactive, otherwise you'll lose the link to already collected answers.

9. FAQ

Does this catalog have journal entries and how does it affect VAT? No. This is an object of the surveys subsystem, not an accounting document. It has no effect whatsoever on VAT (16% rate in Kazakhstan from 2026), revenue (6010), cash (1030), or settlements (1210/3310).

Is an ESF or SNT generated when a survey is saved? No. An ESF is issued for a sale in the ESF information system, an SNT — for the movement of goods. This has nothing to do with a survey.

Can I edit items directly via the navigation link? Technically yes, but you shouldn't. Edit the composition through Survey Templates — then the owner, order, and sections will be set correctly. Direct editing is only for viewing and removing clutter.

What's the difference between "Survey Question" and "Survey Template Question"? The first is a library of wordings and answer types (created once, used many times). The second is the inclusion of a specific question in a specific template with its order and requiredness.

How do I set a rating scale, e.g. from 1 to 10? In the "Survey Questions" catalog, create a question with the type "One option from a list" and list the options 1…10, then add it to the template.

Why is the same question visible in the list several times? Because it's included in different templates. Look at the Owner column — that's the template.

How do I make a question required? In the template, enable the Required checkbox on the question row. After that, the survey cannot be saved without answering it.

Can I copy a template together with its questions? Yes, copy the survey template — its questions (SurveyTemplateQuestions) will be duplicated under the new owner. Then edit the copy.

Where do respondents' answers go? Into the "Survey" document (questionnaire), not into this catalog. The catalog only stores the survey form.

Does this object affect MCI, MMW, or IIT deductions? No. Kazakhstan's 2026 tax parameters (MCI 4,325 ₸, MMW 85,000 ₸, deduction of 30 MCI, IIT 10%/15%) are unrelated to surveys — these are different subsystems.

10. Related objects

  • What it's based on: items are created from a "Survey Template" when questions are added from the "Survey Questions" catalog.
  • What uses this data: the "Survey" document (Questionnaire) — generates the form and collects answers based on the template; survey reports use the template structure to group results.
  • Neighboring subsystem objects: "Survey Questions", "Survey Templates", "Survey" document.

How to find your release: menu "Help" → "About the program" — there you'll find the platform version and configuration release.
