Setting up access to the ESF IS in 1C

To set up access to the IS ESF (Electronic Invoicing Information System) in 1C:Accounting for Kazakhstan, you need to create a user in the program settings and link a valid digital signature (EDS) key to them, then test the connection with the system. After a successful test, you can issue and receive electronic invoices directly from 1C without logging into the IS ESF web office separately.

What you will need before starting the setup

  • A valid EDS key issued by the NUC RK (National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan) — usually an RSA-type key for signing documents. Make sure it has not expired.
  • Up-to-date NUC RK software for working with electronic signatures (crypto provider) installed on your computer.
  • Internet access and open IS ESF addresses (on a corporate network, check with your system administrator whether the proxy or firewall blocks access to the service).
  • Administrator rights in the 1C database itself, so you can make changes to user settings.

Step-by-step setup procedure in 1C

  1. Open the "General Settings" section of the program.
  2. Go to the "Users" subsection.
  3. Create a new user who will work with the IS ESF.
  4. Link the EDS key to this user. Specify the path to the key file and enter the password if the system requests it.
  5. Test the connection — make sure that the link with the IS ESF is established correctly and the program receives a response from the service.

After a successful test, access to the IS ESF will be configured, and you can work with electronic invoices directly from 1C: create, sign, and send ESF documents, as well as receive incoming documents from counterparties.

Checking the connection

The connection test is a key step. It confirms that 1C "sees" the IS ESF service and that the selected EDS key is recognized correctly. If the test passes successfully, the program will report that the link is established. In case of an error, 1C usually displays a message text — it makes it easier to determine the cause (a problem with the key, the network, or the user's own settings).

If the connection cannot be established

When the link with the IS ESF still does not appear after setup, check the following:

  • Validity of the EDS key. It may have expired — in that case, you will need to obtain a new key from the NUC RK.
  • Correctness of the key binding. Make sure the key is linked specifically to the user you are working under, and not another one.
  • NUC RK software. Check that the current version of the software for working with electronic signatures is installed on the computer. An outdated crypto provider is a common cause of failures.
  • Network access. If the computer operates through a corporate network, a proxy or firewall may block access to the service — check this with an IT specialist.
  • Key type. A signing key (RSA) is used for signing ESF documents, not an authentication key (AUTH). Make sure the correct file is selected.

Working with ESF after setup

Once access is configured, the accountant can create electronic invoices directly in 1C based on sales documents, sign them with their EDS, and send them to the IS ESF. Incoming ESF documents from suppliers are also loaded into the database, which simplifies reconciliation and VAT accounting. Such exchange eliminates double data entry and reduces the risk of discrepancies between the accounting records in 1C and the data in the ESF system.

Typical mistakes

  • Linking an authentication key to the user instead of a signing key.
  • Using a key with an expired validity period — the connection passes, but the document cannot be signed.
  • Absence or outdated version of the NUC RK software at the workstation.
  • Configuring access under one user while actually working under another, to which the key is not linked.
  • Ignoring the connection test: the setup was "saved" but not verified, which is why the error surfaces only when sending the first ESF.

What to check

  • The validity period of the NUC RK EDS key is current.
  • The signing key is linked specifically to the user under whom the work is performed.
  • The NUC RK software is installed and updated to the current version.
  • The connection test with the IS ESF passed successfully.
  • Network access to the IS ESF service is not blocked by a proxy or firewall.
  • A trial ESF issuance passes and the document is correctly sent to the system.
