Verified on release 3.0.74.2 "Accounting for Kazakhstan" (edition 3.0).
Management has made a decision: the software license you have been amortizing for two years already at a rate based on five years — we'll write it off in a year and a half, we're switching to a new system. Or the opposite: the accountant discovered that an intangible asset wasn't being amortized at all, even though it should have been. You can't change the term or method directly in the intangible asset card — the card stores the initial data as of the date it was accepted for accounting. That's exactly what the separate document "Change of intangible asset amortization parameters" is for. You enter it, and from the next month amortization is calculated the new way.
1. Purpose
The document changes the parameters by which 1C calculates the monthly amortization of an intangible asset: the useful life, the value for calculating amortization, the method of recording expenses, and the "accrue / do not accrue" indicator itself. The new values take effect starting from the month following the document date. The initial data in the intangible asset card does not change — the program simply overlays new parameters on top of it.
2. Where to find
Menu: section "Fixed Assets and Intangible Assets" → block "Amortization of Intangible Assets" (or "Intangible Assets") → "Change of intangible asset amortization parameters" → "Create" button.
To quickly open the list in 1C: copy the link and paste it via "Main menu → Tools → Go to navigation link" (Ctrl+F11):

2a. How to find out your release
"Help" → "About" (or the question mark icon in the top right corner). There you'll find the platform version (for example, 8.3.24.xxxx) and the configuration release — a line like "Accounting for Kazakhstan, edition 3.0 (3.0.74.2)". If your number differs, individual fields and buttons may be located in other places, but the document logic is the same.
3. How to fill in
The document consists of a header, a set of "switch" checkboxes, and a table section. The principle is: a checkbox at the top enables a column in the table. Whatever is not checked is not changed.
| Field | Why it matters and what happens on error |
|---|---|
| Organization (required) | Which organization you're changing parameters for. In a database with several legal entities, the wrong organization means the asset won't be found in the selection table, and if you post it — the parameters will go "into the void". |
| Dated (date) (required) | The key field. The new parameters take effect from the next month after the date. Set the date to September 6 — the new amortization starts from October, September is calculated the old way. The date must be later than the acceptance of the intangible asset for accounting. |
| Responsible person, Comment | For the record. They don't affect the postings, but a comment ("order No.… on accelerated write-off") saves time during a review. |
Checkboxes above the table (what exactly we're changing):
- "Amortization accrual" — opens the "Accrue amortization" column (Yes/No). Check it if you need to enable or suspend accrual (mothballing, the asset is temporarily not in use).
- "Value for calculating amortization" — opens the "Value…" column. This is the base from which amortization is calculated. Needed for partial liquidation, revaluation, or correcting an error in the value.
- "Useful life" — opens the "Term for accruing amortization, months" column. You specify the remaining term (in months), not the initial one. Make a mistake and amortization will either fly by too fast or stretch out over years.
- "Method of recording amortization expenses" — opens the "Recording method…" column. This is a catalog item that sets the expense account and analytics (Dr 7210, 7110, 8410, etc.). Change it if the intangible asset started being used in a different division/type of activity.
The "Intangible Assets" table section (at least one row is required):
- Click "Select" or "Add" and choose an intangible asset from the "Intangible Assets" catalog. One document — a whole list of assets at once, you can change parameters in bulk.
- Fill in only those columns that you opened with checkboxes. An empty column under an enabled checkbox will be treated by 1C as "reset the parameter" — for example, an empty term = division by zero when closing the month.
After filling in — "Post and close".
4. Worked example with postings
Initial data. Intangible asset "License for the software 'Warehouse-Accounting'", accepted for accounting on 01.10.2023, initial value 900,000 ₸, useful life 60 months, method — straight-line, intangible asset accounting account 2730, amortization recorded on 7210 ("Administrative expenses"). Monthly amortization: 900,000 / 60 = 15,000 ₸.
By September 2026, 24 months have passed. Accumulated amortization: 24 × 15,000 = 360,000 ₸. Residual value: 900,000 − 360,000 = 540,000 ₸.
Task. Under the order on accelerated write-off (switching to a new system), the remaining term is reduced from 36 to 18 months.
Filling in the document: date 06.09.2026, checkbox "Useful life", in the table the intangible asset "License for the software 'Warehouse-Accounting'", column "Term for accruing amortization" = 18.
What will happen to amortization. Starting from October 2026 the new monthly amount = residual value / new term = 540,000 / 18 = 30,000 ₸.
The document itself makes no postings. Amortization under the new parameters will be generated by the routine operation when closing the month for October:
| Dr | Cr | Amount | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7210 | 2740 | 30,000 ₸ | Amortization of intangible asset for October under new parameters |
For September, closing the month will still write off the old 15,000 ₸ (Dr 7210 Cr 2740) — the parameters take effect from the next month.
If instead of the term you had changed the recording method from 7210 to 8410 ("Overhead expenses" of production), the posting would become Dr 8410 Cr 2740, amount — the previous 15,000 ₸.
5. Types of operation
The document has no separate "Operation type" field — the mode is set by the combination of checkboxes. In essence, the document performs four independent operations (in any combination):
- Change of accrual indicator — enable/suspend amortization.
- Change of the value for calculating amortization — new amortizable base.
- Change of useful life — new remaining term in months.
- Change of the method of recording expenses — new expense account/analytics.
6. What is generated on posting
The document does not generate accounting postings and is not a tax/electronic one — it does not create an e-invoice (ЭСФ), an electronic waybill (СНТ), or VAT movements (accounts 1420/3130). The VAT rate (in the RK from 2026 — 16%) has nothing to do with it.
On posting, data is recorded in information registers that are read by the amortization calculation when closing the month:
- "Amortization accrual of intangible assets" — the "accrue / do not accrue" indicator and the effective start date;
- "Initial data of intangible assets (accounting)" / amortization parameters — the new term and value for calculation;
- "Methods of recording amortization expenses of intangible assets" — the new expense account and analytics;
- "Intangible asset events" — the fact of the event "Change of amortization parameters" is recorded.
The actual postings Dr 7210 (7110/8410) Cr 2740 will appear later — in the routine operation "Amortization accrual of intangible assets" when closing the next month.
7. Printed forms
The document has no specialized form (like an Act or an Invoice) — the operation is internal. Available:
- "Accounting statement" — for filing with the order on changing parameters;
- if needed, the result is visible in reports: "Intangible asset amortization statement", "Intangible asset card", as well as in the trial balance for account 2740.
8. Common errors
"The 'Organization' field is not filled in" — no organization is selected in the header. Fill it in before posting.
"The value of the column 'Term for accruing amortization' is not filled in" (or a similar one for value/method) — you enabled a checkbox but left the cell empty. Either fill in the value or clear the checkbox if this parameter does not need to be changed.
"Amortization did not change in the current month" — this is not an error. The parameters take effect from the next month. Check the document date: for the new amount to start from September, the document must be dated August.
Division by zero / zero amortization after closing the month — a 0 or an empty value accidentally ended up in the term. Open the document, enter the correct remaining term, repost, and close the month again.
"The intangible asset was not fully amortized, but amortization stopped" — you set "Accrue amortization = No". Enter a new document with the "Yes" indicator to resume.
The changes were not reflected in the month closing — the document was entered retroactively after the month was already closed. Cancel the month closing for the needed period and perform it again — the routine operations will be recalculated.
9. FAQ
From which month do the new parameters take effect? From the month following the document date. A document dated September 6, 2026 → new amortization from October 2026.
Does the document make postings? No. It writes only to information registers. The postings Dr 7210 Cr 2740 are generated by the month closing.
Which term should I write — the full or the remaining one? The remaining one, in months. The program will take the current residual value and divide it by the specified number of months.
Can I change several intangible assets with one document? Yes. Add as many assets as needed to the table section — the parameters will apply to each row.
How to suspend amortization during mothballing? Enable the "Amortization accrual" checkbox, and in the row set "Accrue = No". To resume, enter a new document with the value "Yes".
Does the document affect VAT, e-invoices (ЭСФ) or electronic waybills (СНТ)? No. This is an internal intangible asset accounting document; it does not create tax movements or electronic documents.
How does it differ from "Change of intangible asset value"? Here you change the calculation parameters (term, base, method, indicator). The initial value and accumulated amortization in the card are not rewritten — a new calculation parameter is overlaid.
I posted it by mistake — how to roll back? Unpost it (or mark it for deletion) and close the month again for the affected period. The registers will be reread, and amortization recalculated.
Can I change the method of recording expenses without touching the term? Yes. Enable only the "Method of recording amortization expenses" checkbox, leave the rest disabled — only the expense account will change (for example, from 7210 to 8410).
Why did the monthly amount change after changing the term? Straight-line amortization = residual value ÷ remaining term. Shorten the term — the monthly amount increases; extend it — it decreases.
10. Related documents
- "Acceptance of intangible asset for accounting" — sets the initial parameters (value, term, method). The parameter change document always comes after it.
- "Change of intangible asset value" — adjusts the book value of the asset (revaluation, partial liquidation); often entered as a pair if the amortization base also changes due to the change in value.
- Routine operation "Amortization accrual of intangible assets" (part of "Month closing") — it is exactly what turns the parameters you set into real postings.
- "Write-off of intangible asset" / "Transfer of intangible asset" — complete the asset's life cycle; after them there's no point in changing parameters anymore.
How to find out your release: "Help" → "About" — there you'll find the platform and configuration release.
