How to Set Up Exchange with the IS ESF in 1C
To work with electronic invoices in 1C:Accounting for Kazakhstan, you must set up exchange with the Electronic Invoice Information System (IS ESF). Once configured, users will be able to send and receive electronic invoices directly from the accounting database.
What to Check Before Setup
Before starting the setup, make sure that:
- the organization is registered in the IS ESF;

- an electronic digital signature (EDS) certificate is installed and valid;

- the correct organization details are specified in 1C;

- the user has the necessary permissions to work with electronic invoices;

- a stable internet connection is available.

Setting Up Exchange with the IS ESF
To set up the exchange, open the 1C infobase and go to:
Main → Settings → Electronic Invoices
Depending on the 1C version and configuration, the section name or location of the setting may differ slightly.
Open the exchange settings with the IS ESF and select the Direct Exchange with IS ISF checkbox on the Exchange Methods with IS ESF tab.
Fig. 1. Exchange settings To work fully with electronic invoices, you need to set up a user profile. To do this, go to the IS ESF Users tab and click the Create button.
1. Selecting a Certificate for Signing In
You will need to select the certificate that you use to sign in to the IS ESF web application.

In the next window, specify the user for whom you are setting up the profile and enter the website login details. You must also select the checkboxes in the table section.

3. Connect to the IS ESF
After completing the required parameters, run the connection or connection test command.
If the connection is successful, 1C should connect to the IS ESF and verify that data exchange is possible.
If the connection is established correctly, you can proceed to sending and receiving electronic invoices.
How to Perform the Exchange
Once the exchange is configured, electronic invoices can be sent from 1C.
To do this, create the required document, such as an Invoice, complete its details, and post the document.
Then run the command to send it to the IS ESF.
1C will generate an electronic document and transmit it to the information system. After the document is processed in the IS ESF, its status in the accounting database will be updated.
To receive incoming electronic invoices, run the command to download or retrieve documents from the IS ESF.
How to Check the Exchange Result
After completing the exchange, it is recommended to check the status of the sent document.
Depending on the processing result, various document statuses may be displayed: sent, accepted, rejected, and others.
If the document is rejected, open the error information, determine the cause, and make the necessary corrections. After correcting the error, the document can be resent.
Common Exchange Issues
The EDS Is Not Detected
Check that the certificate is available and has not expired. Also make sure that the required component for working with electronic signatures is installed.
Unable to Connect to the IS ESF
Check the internet connection, exchange settings, and accuracy of the organization details.
The Document Is Not Sent
Check that all required electronic invoice details have been completed. The error may be caused by incorrect details of the organization, counterparty, product, VAT rate, or other electronic invoice details.
The Sending Result Is Not Displayed in 1C
Run the exchange with the IS ESF again and check the document status. If the problem persists, check the event log and error messages.
Important
Before starting to use the exchange, it is recommended to make sure that the 1C configuration version and the components being used support the current mechanism for interacting with the IS ESF.
You should also regularly check the validity period of the EDS. An expired certificate is one of the common reasons why an electronic document cannot be signed or sent.
Summary
A properly configured exchange with the IS ESF makes it possible to work with electronic invoices directly from 1C: create, sign, send, and receive documents without having to constantly transfer data manually.
